Jean White devoted her life to Christian ministry; first as a missionary in China and then as a pastor and Elder within MCC. Her interest in missions never left her and she spent many years helping MCC establish itself in the United Kingdom and Western Europe as well as co-ordinating our missionary efforts around the world.
She was passionate about Jesus Christ and saw the Church as the embodiment of his message in our world. As a local pastor she helped people experience the love of Christ, reconcile their faith, gender and sexuality and had a significant ministry with troubled people.
For many years her ministry was particularly involved with people living with HIV and AIDS. She was a role model for other female clergy as well as a mentor for many colleagues - both male and female.
We invite essays, in honour of Jean, which address some of the themes of Jean's own ministry:
- Christology,
- evangelism,
- church planting,
- reconciliation of faith,
- gender and sexuality,
- ministry with troubled people,
- HIV/AIDS,
- women and ministry,
- mentoring of ministers.
In particular we are interested in work which helps MCC understand its own mission more fully. Using the ideas and inspiration of our earliest leaders, like Jean White, we can more easily chart our future direction. We hope that the essays will stimulate discussion and debate within MCC on the nature of our mission and ministry in those areas in which Jean, in particular, worked.
The conditions for the submission of essays, and the methodology for peer reviewing of submitted works, are explained in the left-hand sidebar.
